Billing Changes to In-House Shots & Walk-In Urinalysis
To help keep membership fees low, we’re adjusting in-house shot pricing to reflect medication costs. Starting April 1, 2025, the following injections will have a charge: ceftriaxone, cyanocobalamin (B-12), dexamethasone, ketorolac, and promethazine.
Since these shots are not regularly needed, we believe charging only those who receive them is better than raising monthly prices for everyone.
We will also be charging a nurse visit fee ($10) and cost of testing ($3) for walk-in urinalysis (that is, for patients not seen by a provider for a visit). For those patients seen by a provider, the on-site urinalysis will still be included at no additional cost. This helps us recoup the cost of testing materials and the time it takes nursing to run the test and for a provider to review results and make appropriate notes, and when needed, to send in antibiotics to a pharmacy.
• Hickory Plus members will only pay for the medication (shots) and/or the testing materials (urinalysis strips, etc.), as nurse visits and shot administration remain included with this plan.
• Hickory Complete Care & QCP (Logan County Health Plan) members will not be charged for the medications, shot administration, or walk-in urinalysis.
The table below details the costs for each injection (including the $10 shot administration fee that has always been charged):
