Marie Barth, APRN - CNP & Owner
Marie Barth, APRN-CNP, has been a part of Logan County's communities throughout her life. She graduated from West Liberty-Salem High School and completed both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Wright State University. She has practiced nursing with Ohio State University, Green Hills, and as a nurse practitioner with Mary Rutan Hospital at their Urbana clinic. Marie also serves as a clinical adjunct faculty member at Cedarville University, teaching in the Nursing Department.
Marie lives with her husband, Steven, and five children in West Liberty. She was invited to join Hickory at the recommendation of Dr. Roger Kauffman, who had worked with her during her time at Green Hills. Marie brings a wealth of practical experience and a strong commitment to family practice.
Tara Klofta, APRN - CNP
Tara Klofta, APRN-CNP, grew up in Michigan and moved to Logan County in 2003 after obtaining her bachelor’s degree from Ohio Northern University. She went on to study nursing at Rhodes State College and completed her master’s program at the University of Phoenix. She practiced nursing at Mary Rutan Hospital from 2011-2022, spending the last eight years as a member of the Anesthesia Team, focusing on preoperative patient optimization.
Tara lives with her husband, Josh, and three children in Huntsville. She was invited to join Hickory in 2022 after connecting with Marie as part of the local nurse practitioner group. Tara is dedicated to ensuring that patients have the resources to achieve their wellness goals.
Jen Doseck, Nurse
Jen grew up in De Graff, graduating from Riverside High School in 2000. She started her career in the medical field as a receptionist in the front office of Oakhill Medical Associates. She went on to attend nursing school at Ohio High Point and received her LPN license in 2009. She currently lives in De Graff with her husband and 2 sons.
Jen worked with Dr. Kauffman (founding Hickory Medical DPC physician) for more than a decade. She enjoys reading (mostly mysteries) and baking. Jen joined Hickory Medical in January of 2016.
Cortney Oakley, Nurse
Cortney grew up in Bellefontaine, graduating from Bellefontaine High School in 2005. Prior to attending nursing school at Clark State Community College for her LPN, Cortney worked as a teller at Citizens Federal Savings and Loan. She worked as a nurse at Oakhill Medical Associates from 2014-2016 and at OSU Heart and Vascular in Marysville until 2018. She currently lives outside Bellefontaine with her husband and 2 children.
Cortney has been particularly interested in cardiac medicine and enjoys the pace and flexibility that Hickory provides. She went into nursing to connect to patients and has found that Hickory gives her many opportunities to do so. She is an avid OSU fan and enjoys spending time with her family. Cortney joined Hickory in October of 2018.
Kate Brentlinger, Nurse
Kate grew up in West Liberty and graduated from West Liberty-Salem High School in 2004. She earned her nursing degree from Wright State University, with a minor in psychology. Kate began her career at St. Rita’s Hospital in Lima, where she gained invaluable experience in nursing. Over the years, she specialized in pre and post-operative care in surgery centers, a role she found particularly rewarding.
With a passion for healthcare and community, Kate also served as a public health nurse for the Logan County Health District from 2019 to 2021. After taking time off to stay home with her children, she is thrilled to join the Hickory Medical Direct Primary Care team and return to serving and caring for her community.
Outside of work, Kate enjoys spending time with her husband, Ryan, and their two children. As a family, they love cheering on Ohio State football and spending time camping together.
Steve Barth, Owner &
Practice Manager
Steve grew up in Springfield, Ohio, and then attended Indiana Wesleyan University, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. After 14 years as a licensed building inspector for a private commercial and residential building inspection firm, Steve and his wife Marie took over ownership at Hickory Medical DPC at the beginning of 2022. When he is not in the office, he spends his time coaching basketball at West Liberty Salem Schools and enjoys spending time outside with Marie and their five kids.
